Georgia is about a month and a half away from kicking off their 2026 season. They once again are entering the season as one of the favorites to win the SEC, but everyone knows that doesn't guarantee any amount of success.

But there is one big reason why ESPN believes in Georgia this season and it has to due with them having the "easiest" schedule in the conference.

What does this data mean for Georgia heading into the 2026 season?

It isn't very often that Georgia has one of the easiest schedules in the SEC, but for the 2026 season ESPN believes they have the easiest. A lot of that has to do with the fact that their non-conference schedule features two cupcake opponents and Georgia Tech, but their draw in the conference is petty favorable as well.

Georgia's most difficult game of the season is a road matchup against Alabama. They also travel to Ole Miss as well, but other than that their road matchups aren't that daunting as they will play Arkansas and South Carolina on the road this year.

Georgia will then benefit from the rest of their challenging opponents all having to come to Athens to play them. This includes Oklahoma who is probably the second-most talented team they will face this season along with Vanderbilt and Auburn.

Knowing how Georgia's schedule is a bit easier this season they should expect to get back to the SEC Championship game again this year. They also should expect to earn a high seed in the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row as well.

Anything less than that would be a disappointment because of their schedule, but that doesn't mean Georgia can afford to overlook anyone this season.

Georgia still can't afford to overlook anyone on their schedule

The last thing Georgia can afford to do is overlook any of their opponents. Life in the SEC is more difficult than in any other conference because any team can beat anyone on any given day.

Georgia thankfully has been able to avoid these big upsets over the last few years, but that could change in a hurry. The Bulldogs however can't afford to let that happen.

Even if Georgia's schedule is a bit easier this year they still have a handful of games they could very easily lose. This includes their road games at Alabama and Ole Miss as well as their home matchup against Oklahoma. Georgia could afford a loss or two against these teams and still make the CFP, but if they are upset by a bad team then that could ruin their season.

Georgia's goal is to win a National Championship, but before they can focus on that they need to have a good regular season. ESPN believes they are in position to have a really good regular season this year, but Georgia will still have to line it up each week and prove themselves before they can play for a conference or National Championship this season.
