Can Georgia repeat and win the SEC for the third year in a row? That is what is in front of UGA this season as they look to do what so few schools have ever done and win the SEC three years in a row.

Standing in Georgia's way is an extremely difficult schedule, but Vegas oddsmakers love their chances of navigating that schedule and getting back to Atlanta. In fact, Vegas is extremely confident that it will be Georgia and Texas playing for an SEC Championship later this season.

Vegas however has remained steadfast that the Longhorns are the favorites to win the conference, but those odds have been changing and Georgia has officially closed the gap on the Longhorns.

Vegas oddsmakers may have finally learned their lesson about doubting Georgia football

One month ago Georgia had +320 odds to win the SEC. This was the second-best odds in the league as Texas was the betting favorite at +290, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

These odds were really confusing considering Georgia has won the SEC two years in a row and are 3-0 against Texas since they joined the conference, and it now looks like Vegas realized the mistake the made and are changing course.

As of today Texas is still the betting favorite to win the SEC, but their odds decreased to +300. Georgia on the other hand saw their odds improve to +310. Both of these changes are very minuscule, but it shows that Georgia is right their with Texas as they have essentially the same odds of winning the SEC in the eyes of Vegas.

Odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

After Texas and Georgia it is Texas A&M and LSU with the third-best odds of winning the SEC. They however are nowhere close to the Longhorns and Bulldogs at +850. Alabama and Ole Miss are next with the fifth-best odds at +900 and Oklahoma isn't far behind at +1200. After that there is a significant drop-off, but it's clear that Vegas believes either Georgia or Texas will win the SEC.

What's at stake for Georgia in the race for the 2026 SEC Championship?

The SEC Championship game began in 1992, and since then only two schools have won the conference three years in a row. Florida was the first to do it when they won the SEC four years in a row from 1993-1996, then it was Alabama who won the conference three times in a row from 2014-2016.

Georgia has been very close to joining Florida and Alabama as the only schools to win the SEC Championship game three years in a row as they've mad it to Atlanta eight times in Kirby Smart's 10-year career. But this season is the first time they can actually win the SEC three years in a row if they come out on top.

Vegas thinks they have a good chance, but at the end of the day who cares what they think. The last two years they picked Texas to win the SEC in the preseason and Georgia proved them wrong, and now UGA will look to do that again as they embark on a journey to make history.
