Georgia football headlines the college football weekend once again as they are set to take on No. 2 Texas in the SEC Championship game. The hype surrounding this game continues to increase as it is a top five battle with ESPN's College GameDay in Atlanta for their weekly pregame show.

GameDay was also at Texas when these two teams played earlier this season, and the crew unanimously picked the Longhorns to win. We all saw how that worked out for them as Georgia dominated the Longhorns in their own stadium 30-15.

So did the GameDay crew learn their lesson? Or are they riding with the Longhorns once again?

College GameDay selections

Desmond Howard: Texas

Nick Saban: Texas

Pat McAfee: Georgia

Timothee Chalamet: Texas

College GameDay crew didn't learn their lesson

Shoutout to Pat McAfee for making up for trolling Georgia before last year’s SEC Championship game, but he was the only GameDay member to side with Georgia today.

As mentioned, the crew all picked Texas to beat Georgia earlier this season, but it appears only McAfee learned his lesson. To be fair, Desmond Howard did point out how difficult it is to beat the same team twice in one season. Howard however failed to realize that the winner of the first meeting has a much better record in the rematch that takes place in the SEC Championship game.

We’ll see if that trend continues later today or if the GameDay crew will be correct this time around, but Georgia fans should be thankful that the crew picked against UGA. This could be that extra motivation Kirby Smart needs to get his team that much more motivated to win this game.

And hopefully that is the case so UGA can earn a first round bye in the College Football Playoff.
