ESPN's FPI hysterically puts two teams ahead of Georgia football
ESPN doesn't seem like the biggest fan of Georgia football this season. Their College GameDay crew picks the Bulldogs to lose, and their Football Power Index (FPI) is not a fan of Georgia either.
Georgia fans have gotten used to ESPN disrespecting them over the years and have grown to just ignore them altogether. But when they publish rankings this bad then it is impossible to ignore.
Updated ESPN FPI Power Rankings
Rank | Team |

1 | Texas |
2 | Ohio State |
3 | Alabama |
4 | Georgia |
5 | Notre Dame |

Key Takeaways
Texas No. 1?
Does ESPN remember that Georgia just beat Texas on the road 30-15 less than two weeks ago? Did they even notice that the Longhorns only beat Vanderbilt by three points this past Saturday?
I understand that Vanderbilt is infinitely better this year than they normally are, but a three point win against them still isn't impressive. But somehow, someway, Texas is still the No. 1 team according to the FPI.
Alabama is not the No. 3 team
I understand that Alabama being ranked higher makes Georgia look better because that is their only loss. But having them at No. 3 makes no sense.
After beating Georgia, the Tide lost to Vanderbilt, barealy beat South Carolina and then lost to Tennessee. This past weekend Alabama did destroy Missouri 34-0, and while that is very impressive, Missouri might be the most overrated team in the country.
So even though Alabama did beat Georgia, it's clear that the Bulldogs have been a much better team since then.
Disrespect to Oregon
Ohio State being above Georgia isn't problematic, many probably think UGA should be higher but it is very close between the two. But Oregon being No. 8, especially after beating Ohio State, is insane.
The AP Poll has become one of the worst rankings in the country, but they do have Oregon at No. 1 which the Ducks do deserve. Sure the FPI is a power rating system instead of a traditional ranking, but the Ducks barely making the top 10 is inexplainable.
Two tough opponents upcoming
Two of Georgia's next three opponents come in at No. 6 and No. 7 in this ranking. We all have known that Tennessee and Ole Miss are going to be diffcult games, and this just proves that sentiment even more.
But what is extremely shocking is that ESPN's FPI acutally has Ole Miss as a favorite over Georgia in two weeks, giving them a 52.7 percent chance at beating UGA. While this game likely will be very close, Kirby Smart's squard should not be underdogs to them under any circumstances.
