ESPN just simulated the 2026 college football season using the new EA Sports video game that was released a month ago. Not only did they simulate the season one time, but they simulated the season a whopping 26 times.
Video game simulations aren't the best way to predict how a season will unfold, but it is still interesting to see how the video game thinks Georgia will do. Unfortunately the Bulldogs did not fare well in these simulations at all.
ESPN's 2026 college football simulation predicts Georgia's worst-case scenario
The one thing everyone cares the most about is winning a National Championship. Unfortunately for Georgia they did not win a national title in any of the 26 simulations. But to make matters even worse, they only made the playoff in three of the 26 simulations.
"But the biggest shock came from the SEC and the lack of CFP bids for Georgia (three), Texas (three), LSU (three) and Alabama (four)," Max Olson said. "That's a clear sign of the parity among SEC teams in the game's ratings."
To take it one step further, Georgia somehow didn't win the SEC in any of the 26 simulations either. Oklahoma and Ole Miss led the way with six titles each with Tennessee (yes I know, I'm laughing too) winning four times. Texas A&M also won four times, South Carolina won three times and Kentucky, Missouri and Texas all won one championship.
Georgia has the easiest schedule in SEC this season according to ESPN, so either this simulation is way off or Georgia isn't close to as good as people think they are. But considering both the media and Vegas believe Georgia will win the conference this season, something has to be off about these simulations.
ESPN's simulation gave Georgia the motivation they're missing
Kirby Smart is a master motivator, but after finally being named the favorite to win the SEC even he could struggle finding a way to motivate Georgia. This simulation however might be something he could use.
Smart and his team may just laugh off these simulations though. This simulation is just a meaningless video game without any human thought going into it, so it would be really easy to just write these simulations off. But someone had to program all of the data in the game, so someone thought that Georgia wasn't as good as they actually are.
Anyone with a brain knows that if this season played out in the real world 26 times Georgia would win the conference at least once. They also would make the College Football Playoff more three times and probably win a National Championship a couple times as well.
So at the end of the day these simulations don't mean a thing, but it would've been nice to at least get some recognition. But Georgia would much rather win the SEC, make the playoff and win a national title in the real world, and that is what they are going to attempt to do this season.
