While the college football world will know much more about these two teams after Saturday night, the Georgia Bulldogs do enter their primetime affair with the Alabama Crimson Tide as the slight home favorite. Although the line has gone in Alabama's favor of late by way of the betting public, more money from the sharks have been on Georgia to win and cover this game over the last 24 hours or so.
Yes, Alabama has had the upper hand in this rivalry series for the better part of two decades now, but the Crimson Tide's continued struggles on the road under Kalen DeBoer are not going away. They are 1-4 in their last five true road games. Factor in Georgia riding a 33-game home winning streak, and there you go. Then again, the general betting public seems to like the Crimson Tide a bit more here...
Heading into Saturday's games, here are the lines of four important games with some upset potential.
- No. 4 LSU Tigers at No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels (-1.5)
- No. 6 Oregon Ducks at No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions (-3.5)
- No. 11 Indiana Hoosiers (-8.5) at Iowa Hawkeyes
- No. 17 Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (-2.5)

Ole miss will be over LSU I think. Other than that I don't think Alabama is capable of overcoming Georgia this year and Penn states real big challenge but I think they'll escape with a very close game
β Louis Gonzales (@LouisGo21595049) September 25, 2025
Well since Oregon has a 6 next to their name and not a 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1, Penn state might actually have a shot but even if Oregon wins I don't see that as an upset

Think Bama gets torched personally
Brian Kelly gonna have a Brian Kelly masterclass and lose like always
LSU wins close. Iowa wins. Psu wins close. Georgia wins big.

Although there are some fans in the mentions who are still drinking the Crimson Tide Kool-Aid, it seems as though people are expecting for Oregon to upset Penn State and for LSU to upset Ole Miss than for Alabama to knock off Georgia. The Indiana at Iowa game is an intriguing inclusion, as the road date for Ohio State at Wisconsin feels like the far more likely upset to happen in the Big Ten this week.
It is not overwhelming in Georgia's favor to win this, but not everyone is buying into the Crimson Tide.
Why fans may be turning the tide on the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 5
It goes without saying that the bulk of the reason why some commenters are backing the Crimson Tide here has everything to do with their recent history vs. Georgia. The Dawgs are 2-9 in their last 11 games vs. Alabama. It should be noted that only two of them have been Between the Hedges. In fact, the last time Alabama played in Athens, Kirby Smart was in his final year leading Alabama's defense.
Overall, more and more people have started to recognize the downward trends Alabama has been experiencing under DeBoer for nearly a year now. Since beating Georgia at home in a barn-burner last year, the Crimson Tide have really struggled to win on the road. This goes beyond the 1-4 mark away from Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide are starting to get blown out away from Bryant-Denny now.
Ultimately, what have we seen out of Alabama in the last 11 months or so that leads us to believe they will come into Athens and have their way with the Dawgs Between the Hedges? If the Crimson Tide win, it will be by a close margain. Again, that is still very much possible, but the Crimson Tide have devolved into a different team away from Tuscaloosa. Georgia is now a buzz saw in The Classic City.
It seems as though people are far more interested in backing Oregon and LSU than they are Alabama.
