Vegas hasn’t known what to do with the spread in the upcoming Georgia and Alabama football game. Sportsbook have had the Bulldogs as the favorite the entire time, but over the last few weeks the line has moved a lot.

Georgia originally opened as a 6.5 point favorite before it shrunk all the way to 2.5 points. That is where the spread still sits today on the FanDuel Sportsbook, but this movement shows that the public has been heavily in favor of the Crimson Tide.

On3’s Josh Pate however has indicated that Georgia -2.5 has been the most bet on spread over the last 24 hours.

Georgia vs Alabama betting trend changes course

There are a lot of reasons why it made sense for college football fans to bet in favor of Alabama. The Crimson Tide are 6-1 against Kirby Smart, they’ve looked a lot better this season after their loss to Florida State, and they also will be getting two of their starters back for Saturday’s game.

But why is the public now starting to bet in favor of Georgia?

In all honesty, it’s hard to say. In fact, the Bulldogs have only received bad news in the last 24 hours as starting right tackle Earnest Greene has been officially ruled out. But apparently that doesn’t matter because bettors are in love with Georgia right now.

As mentioned though, maybe the public saw the line shift in Alabama’s favor so much that they finally thought there was good value on Georgia. And after seeing the Bulldogs win at Tennessee two weeks ago, it’s hard to imagine them not being a small favorite in this game.

Alabama can most certainly win this game, but Georgia deserves to be the favorite because of how they played against the Volunteers and because they are the home team. So the public is making a smart choice now by putting their trust in UGA on Saturday.
