Georgia football's upcoming showdown against No. 17 Alabama is all anyone in the college football world is talking about. While there are countless interesting angles to talk about entering the game on Saturday, the craziness that is occurring with the spread can't be ignored.

Unfortunately the movement in the spread has not been a good sign for Georgia.

Georgia's spread continues to shrink vs Alabama

A few weeks ago the Bulldogs were listed as 6.5 point favorites over Alabama. That line was set around the time the Crimson Tide lost their season opener against Florida State, so that is likely why UGA was favored by a touchdown.

Fast forward a few weeks though and that is no longer the case.

The spread has continued to shift in Alabama's favor over the past couple weeks, coming all the way down to 4.5 points this past weekend. Then when the first official spread was posted this week Georgia found themselves favored by just 3.5 points. Now just a couple days later the Bulldogs are only 2.5 point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

It's unclear why the public and Vegas are siding so much with Alabama, but there are a few things that do stand out. The Crimson Tide have won nine of the last 10 meetings against Georgia, so that stat likely stands out to the betting public. On top of that, Alabama has looked much better since losing to Florida State in their season opener as well.

But the one thing that is likely impacting this the most is the fact that Alabama just announced two of their starters will be making their season debuts this weekend.

Even if all of that is in Alabama's favor, Georgia is still the favorite entering this game. While it is unfortunate for the spread to shrink this much, none of that will matter when the game begins on Saturday.
