For the last six months Georgia football has had the No. 1 quarterback in the country committed to their recruiting class. That player is Jared Curtis who originally committed to Georgia in May.
Since then Curtis has been fully committed to Georgia and has even helped them recruit more talent to Atens to play with him. But Curtis's commitment is no longer firm, in fact it appears that the first domino has fallen that could eventually lead to him decommitting from Georgia.

Vanderbilt is making room for Georgia commit Jared Curtis
Three-star quarterback Michael Mitchell announced on Friday that he was decommitting from Vanderbilt. Mitchell had been committed to the Commodores since September of 2024, so it seemed like he was going to be Vanderbilt's QB for the 2026 class. But the Commodores then decided to go after Curtis, and it's looking like they are finding success.
Curtis took two trips to Vanderbilt about a month ago, but ever since then he and his camp stated that he was not leaving Georgia. But a new report surfaced this week indicating that Curtis wanted to play as a true freshman next season, and that is something that Kirby Smart and Georgia will not guarantee him. So that could be the one thing that ultimately pushes Curtis to flip to Vanderbilt instead.
The fact that Mitchell decommitted from Vanderbilt however is the first concrete sign that Curtis is likely going to ditch Georgia. Mitchell knows that he will never see the field if he goes to Vanderbilt with Curtis, so he was likely told this which led to him looking for a new school to play for.
The rumors of Curtis to Vanderbilt seemed like they had no legs for the last month, but that is no longer the case. At this point it would be shocking if he stayed committed to Georgia, so it may just be a matter of time until he officially flips to Vanderbilt.
