Not only do Georgia and Florida battle on the football field every year, but they also find themselves in heated competitions on the recruiting trail as well. Typically these recruitments go Georgia's way, but Florida will take UGA down from time to time with some recruits.
Unfortunately that is exactly what happened on Thursday as four-star offensive lineman Desmond Green announced his commitment to Florida.

4-star OL chooses Florida over Georgia
According to On3's Hayes Fawcett, Green committed to Florida on Thursday over Georgia, South Carolina and Oklahoma.
Green is a very solid offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class as the 247Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 393 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 33 offensive lineman in the 2026 class as well as the No. 9 player from his home state of South Carolina.
Georgia was very interested in earning Green's commitment and even hosted him on an official visit on May 30. Unfortunately that visit wasn't enough to convince him that Georgia was the right place for him.
Thankfully Georgia has had many more examples of recruiting success against the Gators, with the most recent example occurring earlier this week when defensive lineman Corey Howard chose Georgia over Florida. So this loss for the Bulldogs doesn't change the fact that they still own Florida in all aspects when it comes to football.
The last interior offensive line target Georgia has on their recruiting board is four-star Breck Kolojay. 247Sports views Kolojay as a slightly better prospect than Green as their composite rankings have him as the No. 279 player in the country. 247Sports also has a prediction in Georgia's favor for this recruitment as well, so it may just be a matter of time until Georgia adds their next offensive lineman.
But Florida does deserve some credit here, because they earned a solid commitment from a player Georgia wanted.
