Florida may have a quarterback controversy brewing in their program, and it couldn't have come at a better time for Georgia.
Aaron Philo has been their starter all season, but backup Tramell Jones had to replace him two weeks ago against Texas when he was hurt. In that game he was efficient throwing the ball, proved he is a capable runner, didn't turn the ball over and led them to an upset win on the road at Texas.
Heading into the Georgia game this weekend Florida hasn't announced who their starter will be. In fact, both players showed up on the injury report Wednesday night as questionable to play. This is dragging out the conversation about who their starter should be going forward, and that could be one of the best things for Georgia right now.
Sumrall put both QBs’ injuries out there on his own. Spikes wants Tramell Jones. Some inside the building reportedly want Aaron Philo.

Florida may have a midseason QB controversy on their hands
The feeling right now is that the Florida coaching staff would prefer to have Philo start. He won the starting job this offseason, so they may not think one good game from Jones is enough to bench their guy they picked this offseason.
Florida fans however think they should ride with the hot hand. Philo has lost two games already this season to South Carolina and Missouri, meanwhile Jones is a perfect 1-0 after picking up an impressive road win at Texas. They think he deserves to keep playing until he shows he isn't capable anymore, and it's hard to blame them.
If the fans and coaching staff are thinking two different things then who knows how the rest of the team feels. There's a good chance some of them want Philo back while others want to keep letting Jones play, and all it could take is one bad play from either quarterback for there to be some heated conversations inside their program.
The more controversy there is the better for Georgia. Sure it could be difficult for them to prepare to play Florida without knowing who is going to start at QB, but that is worth it if it is creating some tension inside their program.
Gunner Stockton is the steady leader Georgia needs
Now is a good time to acknowledge and appreciate how nice it is for Georgia to have Gunner Stockton. Sure he didn't have that great of a game against Auburn the last time Georgia played, but everyone knows that he is the right man to continue playing quarterback for Georgia.
Every coach and player (and nearly every fan) believe he is the right person for the job. They think he is good enough to lead Georgia to victory against anyone they face and think he is one of the best leaders Georgia has had in recent years.
So while Florida debates who should be playing quarterback for them the Bulldogs can sit back and relax and just prepare as they normally do every week. If Florida is actually dealing with some quarterback controversy heading into this weekend then Georgia's advantage over them just got that much bigger.
