Florida is fresh off firing head coach Billy Napier, and even though it’s only been a few days there are a few coaches already emerging as their top candidates. One of those coaches is Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin has Ole Miss humming as they are a true contender in the SEC this season, but the opening at Florida could be an attractive option to him. In fact, many college football insiders believe Kiffin will take the Florida job after this season.

That clearly would be massive news especially in the SEC, but Kiffin going to Florida would be the worst case scenario for Georgia.

Lane Kiffin moving to Florida would be terrible news for Georgia

Before Kiffin arrived at Ole Miss the Rebels were not a strong program. They weren’t the worst team in the SEC, but the top teams in the conference like Georgia never had to worry about them.

Kiffin however has changed that in a hurry as he has turned Ole Miss into a true contender. He is even one of the few coaches who has shown he can beat Kirby Smart and Georgia, outside of Alabama of course. So if Kiffin can turn Ole Miss into the program they are today, he likely could do even better at Florida.

Florida has a much better history as a program than Ole Miss does. They also have access to far more resources than Ole Miss and are located in a recruiting hot bed as well. So Kiffin could be the perfect coach that can bring Florida back to the program they once were.

Georgia has dominated Florida over the last few years. The Bulldogs have one four straight against Florida and have also won seven of the last eight meetings as well, so the last thing anyone at Georgia wants is for Florida to change the course of this rivalry.

But there is a chance Kiffin would be able to accomplish that and more at Florida, so every Georgia fan should hope that he stays put at Ole Miss so he isn’t given the chance to succeed at Florida.
