Georgia football has struggled to win in dominant fashion for much of this season, but that was not the case on Saturday. The Bulldogs faced a Mississippi State team that many experts believed could put up a good fight, but Georgia was dominant in every facet of the game en route to their 41-21 victory.
While every Georgia fan will be very satisfied with the outcome of this game, some college football bettors across the country might be a little upset at UGA for the second week in a row.
Georgia let down college football bettors for the second week in a row
Georgia had a chance to cover the spread late against Florida last week. Gunner Stockton had an opportunity to walk into the end zone with less than two minutes to play, but instead of scoring he opted to take a knee on the one yard line to run the clock out. While this was the smart play to make, it prevented Georgia from covering the spread which lost bettors a lot of money.
Fast forward to this week and it was Georgia's defense who cost bettors some money. Georgia was leading Mississippi State late in the fourth quarter 41-14 before they gave up a touchdown. UGA had the 9.5 point spread easily covered, so Mississippi State's final touchdown didn't impact that. But this garbage time touchdown Georgia's defense gave up caused the total points scored to hit the over instead of staying under the 56.5 total that was set by Vegas.
As mentioned, Georgia and their entire fanbase should not care about this at all. But it is a little funny to know that something Georgia did late in a game cost bettors across the country some money.
Thankfully however it was the over-under that was impacted this week instead of Georgia failing to cover the spread.
