Ekene Ogboko is a former five-star offensive tackle who is a true freshman for Georgia this season. He arrived to his first fall camp at Georgia on Wednesday and is already making a big impression just based on his size alone. Instead of looking like a typical newcomer who has obvious work to do on his body, he instead looks like a seasoned veteran who could be undergoing his third or fourth season with the program.

Georgia lost a few big pieces on their offensive line after last season. Monroe Freeling and Micah Morris were both selected at the 2026 NFL Draft, so they left obvious holes that someone will have to fill.
Ogboko will have to earn that playing time throughout fall camp, but he already has the look of a starting SEC offensive tackle capable of dominating on Georgia's line.
Juan Gaston laid the blueprint that Ekene Ogboko can follow
Juan Gaston is a former five-star recruit as well. He is entering his sophomore season this year, and just like Ogboko he showed up to Georgia as a true freshman last year with really impressive size for his age.
Gaston however backed up his size with strong play throughout camp, so much so that he started on Georgia's offensive line for their first game of the season last year. He is proof that it is possible to start on Georgia's offensive line as a true freshman, and Ogboko will try to accomplish that this year.
Not only was Gaston a starter for Georgia's first game last year, but he played well all season. He however dealt with a few injuries throughout the year which prevented him from making the All-SEC freshman team. His counterpart Dontrell Glover, who was a redshirt freshman offensive lineman last year, was named to the All-SEC freshman team.
Both Gaston and Glover proved last year how successful freshman can be on Georgia's line. They however did it a bit different as Gaston came in with high expectations as a five-star recruit while Glover was a low four-star with far less expectations.
But they both proved that with hard work a player of any age can be successful on Georgia's offensive line. Only time will tell if Ogboko can find similar success this season, but he has the look of an elite offensive tackle and his five-star rating out of high school shows that he has the potential to be great.
