The transfer portal has created so many interesting storylines throughout the few years that it has existed in college athletics. The most notable transfer decision in Georgia history by far was when Carson Beck decided to transfer to Miami (FL) for one final season this offseason.
Even though Miami isn't a rival of Georgia, the fact that Beck left UGA out of nowhere is what made this story grab national attention.
But there are other transfer decisions that are just as bold and shocking that don't get as much attention like Beck's decision, and there are countless examples in every college sport that is played. And the most recent transfer decision that shook the Georgia athletics world is when infielder Cade Brown announced on Tuesday that he was transferring to rival Georgia Tech.

Georgia freshman leaves UGA for in-state rival
Brown spent just one season in Athens, and what a season it was as Georgia baseball finished the year with an impressive 43-17 record. The season didn't end how anyone wanted, but overall there were a lot of positive takeaways still.
Since Brown was a freshman, he only appeared in 16 games, but as he got older he was in line to get a lot more playing time. That however won't be occurring at Georgia as Brown entered the transfer portal this offseason and will now be heading to Georgia Tech.
The loss of Brown really won't be that difficult for Georgia to overcome because Brown did not prove himself in the few games that he appeared in. That doesn't mean that he is a bad player by any means, but it just wasn't meant to be for him in Athens this last season. But to decide to transfer to one of Georgia's rivals is certainly a choice, and one that his former teammates will remember going forward.
The Yellow Jackets are a team Georgia plays every season, so it will be interesting to see how the future matchups unfold with Brown in the opposing dugout now.
