Recruiting has never been more fluid in college football than what we are experiencing in today's day and age. A recruit who seems locked in with one school can seemingly out of nowhere decide they aren't interested in that school anymore and find a new program all within a couple days.
Unfortuantely for Georgia football, that is exactly what happened with one of their recent commits.
Last week, five-star QB Jared Curtis decommitted from Georgia's 2026 recruiting class. This is a huge loss because Curtis is the No. 1 ranked QB in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Now, just one week later, it looks like Curtis already has his eyes set on a new school.
Jared Curtis is trending to Oregon
After Curtus decommitted from Georgia, he did keep the Bulldogs on his short list of schools he was going to pursue. But if we were being honest with ourseleves, UGA never stood a chance even if he did keep Georgia on this list. So finding out that Georgia isn't the top school on his mind is not surprising at all.
But according to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Curtis is currently most interested in Oregon.
On the bright side for Georgia, the Ducks aren't in the SEC, so if Curtis does go there then the Bulldogs won't have to worry about facing him during the regular season. Also when looking at the 2026 recruiting cycle, Kirby Smart and his staff still have plenty of time to pivot and find a replacement for Cutris in their recruiting class.
But even with all that being the case, it is impossible to say losing Curtis wasn't a big loss. Smart and his staff will surely figure this out and Georgia likely won't skip a beat on the field, but they are going to have to work hard to find their next QB in the 2026 class.
