Some of the worst news that Georgia football received so far this offseason is when UGA linebacker Damon Wilson decided to enter the transfer portal.
Wilson was fresh off his second season at Georgia where he recorded 22 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles. While this was a pretty good season for Wilson, expectations were sky high for him heading into the 2025 season as he was projected to see a lot more playing time and become one of Georgia's top defenders. But that appeared to no longer be the case since he entered the transfer portal.
However, everyone assumed that Kirby Smart would do his best to convince Wilson to stay at Georgia because of how talented he is. But recent news has shown that this no longer seems like a possibility.
Upcoming visits for Wilson
Wilson has a massive visit approaching with Ohio State this weekend, according to Steve Wiltfong with On3.
This visit confirms what everyone has been saying recently that Ohio State is the team to beat in Wilson's recruitment. Wiltfong along with Pete Nakos at On3 both placed official predictions for Wilson to commit to Ohio State, so this visit is another sign that this is the most likely outcome.
However, there is an SEC team who is doing their best to stay in the running in this recruitment as well.
Matt Zenitz with 247Sports recently reported that Wilson already visited Missouri earlier this week. This news came as a shock because Ohio State was the only team to be publicly linked with Wilson up to this point.
However, even if Missouri is attempting to get involved, it does not look like their efforts will be rewarded. At this point it would be shocking for Wilson to commit to anyone other than Ohio State, so it's likely time for Georgia fans to move on and give up any hope that he will return to Athens.
