Georgia football is one of the programs whose former players have been making the most noise during the NFL offseason. One of the biggest stories so far from a former Bulldog is quarterback Matthew Stafford, who the Los Angeles Rams gave permission to seek a trade. That did not end up woking out for Stafford, but he and the Rams did come to terms on a new contract that will keep in LA for the next few years.

And while other former Bulldogs have been signing new deals, there's another former Georgia star who may be on the verge of being traded as well.

Defensive lineman Travon Walker

Former Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker has been a standout player for the Jacksonville Jaguars for the last three years. Walker was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after a dominant three year campaign at Georgia that saw him record 65 tackles and nine sacks during his three seasons.

Walker's production has not slowed down in the NFL, in fact he has only gotten better. His rookie season saw him tally 49 tackles which included 3.5 sacks. But his second and third season is when Walker exploded as he recorded 10 sacks in 2023 then 10.5 sacks in 2024.

It's clear that any team in the NFL would be able to use this type of production. However, it will be very expensive for any team to trade for him as the Jaguars will likely want a large return for their star defensive lineman.

It's unclear at this time which teams are interested in Walker, but one team that immediately comes to mind are the Detroit Lions. They have been actively shopping for another pass rush specialist to pair with Aidan Hutchinson, and Walker would be a great addition to accomplish that. And with the Lions being one of the better teams in the NFL right now, watching Walker go to a Super Bowl contender would be a lot of fun.

There is always a chance he stays with Jacksonville like Stafford and the Rams, but that is usually unlikely to happen when a team begins shopping one of their players. So stay tuned as there is a chance a lot of teams show interest in Walker in the coming days.
