Former Georgia football quarterback Jaden Rashada is now at his third school. This offseason he made the move from UGA to Sacramento State in hopes of finally being able to earn a starting quarterback job, and Thursday he was officially announced as the next starting quarterback at Sacramento State.

Jaden Rashada named Sacramento State's starting QB

Rashada was one of the top prospects coming out of high school in the 2023 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, he was the No. 6 quarterback in the country which made him a highly sought after recruit.

Rashada ended up committing to Arizona State where he played during his true freshman season in 2023. He saw limited playing time with the Sun Devils, but he did show a lot of promise in the three games he played in. During the 2023 season Rashada completed 44 of 82 passes for 485 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

After the 2023 season Rashada made the decision to enter the Transfer Portal and head to Georgia. Carson Beck had announced his return to UGA, so he knew he would not have a chance to become the starter in 2024. But it turns out that he couldn't even win the backup job as Gunner Stockton proved to be the backup to Beck throughout the season.

With Beck's departure to Miami (FL) this created an opportunity for Rashada to compete for the starting job at Georgia. Rashada however must not have liked his chances at beating out Stockton and Ryan Puglisi, so he deicded to enter the portal once again and move on to Sacramento State.

Sacramento State does play in the FCS which is a step below major college football, so there is a great chance he will excel this season. And if he does perform well do not be surprised to see him enter the Transfer Portal again next offseason and move back up to major college football.
