Former Georgia rival refuses to admit the true facts about Gunner Stockton

Roman Harper isn't a believer in Gunner Stockton.

Gunner Stockton has a chance to cement himself as a Georgia football legend this season. The only way he can do that though is by winning a National Championship, thankfully Georgia is one of the favorites to do so this season.

If Georgia is going to win it all a big reason why will because Stockton turned into one of the best quarterbacks in the country. So far this spring he has shown he is trending in that direction, but former Alabama football star Roman Harper isn't confident that he will even be a top quarterback in the SEC this year.

"This guy snuck in for me at five," Harper said via x.com. “Gunner Stockton. He snuck in at five. I just love that Mike Bobo started to use this young man's ability. His legs. Like that was the biggest change for me. Also, when the game needed it the most, when you had to have a play, Gunner Stockton was never the reason you didn't win the game. All he did was deliver when his team needed him. He's a great leader, he throws the ball accurately on time and he does exactly what Georgia wants him to do. And so because of that I have to give Gunner a lot of credit, because he was a player that we thought would hold back Georgia and in reality he was the reason why Georgia was successful last year."

Roman Harper almost forgets to name Gunner Stockton as one of the SEC's top QBs

Harper named Stockton as the No. 5 quarterback in the SEC heading into this season. Above him he has Trinidad Chambliss at No. 1 followed by Arch Manning, Sam Leavitt and Marcel Reed.

No Georgia fan should be upset with Chambliss being listed at No. 1. He tormented Georgia's defense twice last year which included the Bulldogs' loss to Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff. After that though it doesn't make much sense to have anyone above Stockton.

Manning is still living off his last name rather than any on field success, Leavitt hasn't even played one down of football in the SEC, and Reed didn't even have that great of a year at Texas A&M last season. But somehow Harper has all three quarterbacks ranked above Stockton.

This thankfully won't bother Stockton in the slightest, in fact it may motivate him even more this offseason. So when Stockton does prove to be one of the best players in the SEC he may have Harper to thank because Kirby Smart will make sure that he uses this as motivation all year long.
