Georgia football has been after many of the top targets in the transfer portal so far this transfer portal season. And one of those targets Kirby Smart and Georgia were immediately linked with was Georgia Tech wide receiver transfer Eric Singleton Jr.
The standout receiver had an impressive 2024 campaign with the Yellow Jackets as he recorded 56 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns. This impressive season not only made him the No. 1 receiver in the portal, but the overall No. 1 player in the country according to On3. So it really was no surprise to see that Georgia was interested in recruiting him.
But unfortunately for Georgia, that interest was not mutual as Singleton announced his top five that did not include the Bulldogs.
That news wasn't the end of the world for Georgia because they are already after many other receivers in the transfer portal, including the No. 2 receiver in the country. But new news has come out surrounding Singleton's recruitment and who the leader is, and it unfortunately is one of Georgia's rivals.
Singleton predicted to commit to Auburn
After Singleton made it known that he was not interested in Georgia, the one thing UGA fans were hoping for was that he would not commit to a school in the SEC. The last thing any Georgia fan should want is to have to potentially go up against the talented receiver next season. But unfortunately for Georgia, the worst possible scenario appears to be happening.
Not only did two On3 recruiting experts log a prediction for Singleton to commit to an SEC school, but they predicted him to commit to Auburn, one of Georgia's biggest rivals.
So Georgia will to continue to face Singleton next season as the Auburn Tigers are on Georgia's 2025 schedule. But Georgia has gone up against many of the top players in the country every season and have still been able to come out on top, so hopefully that will remain the case next year against Singleton and Auburn.
