Georgia football has high hopes for the future of their program thanks in large part to five-star quarterback commit Jared Curtis. Curtis is the No. 4 player in the country and the top ranked QB according to the 247Sports composite rankings, so there are a lot of reasons for UGA fans to have high expectations for the years ahead.

While it is fun to look at Curtis's ranking on his 247Sports porfile, there is another section on his page that provides an in-depth breakdown of his game. And included in that section is a player comparison, and 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins said the best comparison to Curtis is none other than Carson Beck.

Jared Curtis draws uneasy comparison to Carson Beck

The last person Georgia fans probably want Curtis to be compared to is Beck. It's not because he is a bad player, but Beck ditched the program this offseason which left a bad taste in the mouths of some fans.

But if Georgia fans can move past that they should actually be happy with this comparison because Beck is one of the top QBs in the country right now. Beck has Miami (FL) humming at 5-0 and sitting at No. 2 in the country. He is also firmly in the race to win the Hesiman Trophy which is something that Georgia fans expected from him last season.

Unfortunately his career at Georgia didn't end like anyone had hoped, but it seems like Beck is at peace with how things went down. He even went as far as to admit that he never wanted to leave Georgia in the first place.

So maybe this comparison isn't that bad after all. Maybe Georgia fans should be excited because Beck is continuing to play at a high level and looks like someone with true NFL potential. And if that's the player Curtis becomes at Georgia then likely no one will be upset in Athens.

247Sports' breakdown of Georgia QB commit Jared Curtis

"Refined and polished passer who matches a higher floor with a higher ceiling," Ivins shared via 247sports.com. "Possesses not only the desired build for the position, but also elite pocket-passing qualities to go along with some slick athleticism. Owns both the arm and the eyes to constantly tax defenses. Smooth mechanics result in pinpoint accuracy on the basic throws while a powerful base helps serve up lasers to both the second and third levels. Adept at altering the velocity and trajectory when needed. Side-steps pressure with subtle movements to stay pass-ready and will drop the elbow to sling it around incoming bodies."
