It has been quite the NFL preseason for former Georgia Bulldogs. Veterans are showing out like they always do, but rookies are also making themselves known within their teams. For one former Georgia player, it seems like his rookie preseason is going well and his team is loving what he is doing, so much so, he is looking to be a starter come Week 1.
Malaki Starks is making a real case to be on the field with the starting lineup in Week 1 with the Baltimore Ravens. The first-round draft pick has impressed in training camp, as well as in his first two preseason games. While he has only played the first two drives of each of his preseason games, Starks has done his best to make the most of his time on the field and get used to the NFL pace.
In the Ravens' matchup against the Dallas Cowboys this past weekend, Starks was pretty quiet on the stat sheet, but there was one play that fans are loving. Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton threw a ball to a receiver, and while the ball went off the receiver's hands, even if he had caught it, Starks was right there with a monster hit that probably would have knocked the ball loose anyway.

Starks' movement on the play showed his ability to track a ball in the air well and get to the receiver and make a big play. His ability to move swiftly on the field is what makes him so desirable for the Ravens, and it will make him a starter by Week 1.
The biggest thing for Starks in these preseason games, however, is not to make the biggest plays or even the most plays; it is to get comfortable at this level of football. Everyone knows that the NFL is not like college football; guys play faster and hit harder, so getting used to the new pace is crucial for any rookie.
Starks is doing everything he needs to right now to be ready for the first week in the NFL, and everything he is doing now, Georgia fans knew he would be able to do. Now it's just time for real football to begin.
