Every offseason Georgia will lose a few members of their coaching staff. That is just the reality of how college football works, especially at a program as successful at Georgia.
But some losses are more difficult to overcome than others, and there is the potential for Kirby Smart and Georgia to lose a significant assistant coach to the NFL.

For those curious about the 33 year-old who Kirby Smart tabbed to replace Dan Lanning in the OLB room, I wrote about him extensively 18 months ago.

Dallas Cowboys have their eyes on a Georgia assistant
Chidera Uzo-Diribe is Georgia’s outside linebackers coach. He has held that position since February of 2022, so he has been the leader of a unit that has been very dominant over the last four years.
Georgia has become known for their elite play from their outside linebackers during Smart’s tenure. That was the case long before Uzo-Diribe joined Georgia’s staff, but he helped keep that unit operating at an extremely high level like they always have been.
As mentioned, Georgia will typically lose a few coaches every offseason. Those losses however typically occur in the college game as certain coaches try to climb the coaching ladder in the college ranks. Uzo-Diribe however is going about things a little differently as he is reportedly interviewing for an open spot with the Dallas Cowboys.
It’s hard to imagine that Georgia will be able to keep him in Athens if the Cowboys offer him a job. Especially if his goals are to become a coach in the NFL, then this is one of the best career moves that he could make.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out for Georgia. While it will be tough to see him go, this is an amazing opportunity that everyone should be happy to see him take. Sure he will leave some big shoes to fill, but Smart undoubtedly will be able to find the next great coach to lead the outside linebackers at Georgia.
