The transfer portal is a difficult thing to manage for college football coaching staffs. One of the biggest reasons why is because of the insane amount of players that enter the portal each year, a number that surpassed 1,000 total entrants on Wednesday alone.

So Kirby Smart and Georgia have to not only identify what positions they need to target, but they also have to figure out which players to target in the portal. And the Bulldogs have to do all of that as quickly as possible, because if they don’t then any other team in the country could get the player they want first.

So far the Bulldogs have done an excellent job moving quickly with the targets they are interested in as they have scheduled four visits so far. And one of those visits is with Miami (FL) defensive lineman Josh Horton.

Josh Horton visiting Athens on Friday

Horton has barely even been in the portal, and Georgia is already bringing him to campus for a visit that is taking place on Friday. It is nearly impossible to move faster with a transfer, so this should put Georgia in a great spot to land Horton.

Horton only played in one season with the Hurricanes where he appeared in just eight games. In those games, he only recorded a stat in three where he combined to tally four tackles.

This lack of production however isn’t deterring Smart or Georgia, because they clearly are motivated to add Horton to the program. So hopefully they are able to do just that, because not only would they be adding a player with a lot of potential, but they’d also be stealing him from a school in Miami that just took one of Georgia’s top commits in the 2026 class.
