Saturday marked the decision date for four-star defensive lineman Anthony Lonon. The talented Peach State defensive lineman recently trimmed his recruitment down to Georgia and Georgia Tech, but it was the Bulldogs who came out on top on Saturday as Lonon has officially announced his commitment to UGA over the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia takes down in-state rival for 4-star Peach State DL
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Lonon is the No. 292 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 38 defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 35 overall player from the state of Georgia as well.
Lonon is the 31st recruit to commit to Georgia which increases the Bulldogs lead over USC in the race to sign the No. 1 class in the country. The Trojans did beat Georgia for four-star offensive lineman Breck Kolojay on Friday which brought them right behind UGA in the team recruiting rankings. This commitment from Lonon however gives Georgia a little breathing room atop the 2026 recruiting rankings.
Lonon is now the seventh defensive lineman to commit to Georgia's recruiting class this cycle. That is quite a large number of commits at one position in the same recruiting class, so Lonon is likely the last defensive lineman who will be joining Georgia's recruiting class this year.
Now that the calendar has flipped to August and fall camp is underway for Georgia, there will be a lot less recruiting news and commitments to follow for the next few months. That is the case at every school in the country, so it's good that Georgia's class is already pretty full.
It also is nice to have the No. 1 recruiting ranking at this point as well with the expected decrease in recruiting news across the country because this means Georgia may have the best chance at signing the No. 1 class in the country.
