Right when fans thought the coaching carousel of college football could not get any crazier, reports surfaced on Wednesday that Michigan was parting ways with head coach Sherrone Moore after allegations arose of Moore having an "inappropriate relationship" with a staffer. Now with yet another blue-blood program without a coach, some of the biggest names in the country are being named as potential suitors for the job.

Among those names is Georgia football defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann.

Glenn Schumann named Candidate for Michigan Head Coach Position

Fox Sports analyst RJ Young released an article on Wednesday shortly after the firing to label five candidates for the open position. Sitting at No. 3 on his list was Schumann. Young stated, "If the Wolverines are looking to hire one of the best assistant coaches in America for the last decade and pick up the next head-coaching jewel to come up under both Nick Saban and Kirby Smart, they’ll fly south of the Mason-Dixon Line to make Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann say no to being the next head coach in Ann Arbor."

After a shaky start to the season, the young Georgia Bulldogs defense has stepped up in a major way this season, and more recently against Alabama in the SEC Championship game where they only allowed seven points to the Crimson Tide. Schumann also served as co-defensive coordinator with Will Muschamp during Georgia's run of back-to-back National Championships in 2021 and 2022.

This is not the first time Schumann has been rumored for an open head coaching position. More recently, Schumann was named a candidate for the Florida Gators open position of head coach earlier in the season. Eventually, Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall was hired for the position instead. For Georgia fans, this open position could be something to keep an eye on. As Young said, it would be hard for any assistant coach to turn down a head coaching offer from Michigan.
