Georgia baseball is on fire to start their 2025 season. The Bulldogs entered the weekend with a 21-2 (2-1) record as they hit the road down to Florida to take on the No. 13 Gators in a 3-game series.

Georgia began the weekend Friday night with a thrilling 8-7 win after a ninth inning home run by Ryland Zaborowski lifted Georgia over Florida.

Any win against the Gators is exciting, but the job wasn’t done as UGA still needed another win this weekend to clinch the series victory over Florida. And that win came Saturday afternoon in dominant fashion.

Georgia dominates Florida en route to series win

Georgia’s bats have not been a problem this season, but their pitching has left a lot to be desired. That however was not an issue as starter Brian Curley went five innings while only giving up two hits, two walks and no runs. The bullpen then came in and only gave up two runs to a solid Florida lineup, showing they were in complete control all game. This is the exact game Georgia needed from its pitching staff to increase their confidence as the season progresses.

Speaking of Georgia’s solid hitting, they did not let up either as the Bulldogs poured in 17 runs on 12 hits. Devin Obee led the way for Georgia with two of the Bulldogs six home runs, which adds to their NCAA leading total.

Georgia goes for series sweep Sunday

The Bulldogs now sit with a 23-2 (4-1) record with a chance to sweep Florida on Sunday. The series finale is scheduled for 1:00 pm EST on Sunday in Gainesville, and what a win this would be to not only sweep the Gators but to also keep pace with LSU who is the last undefeated team remaining in conference play.
