Every Georgia fan loves to beat Florida any chance they get no matter the sport, and Georgia baseball had their first crack at doing just that on Friday, March 21.
However, a positive football injury update and new theory about a former star QB made March 21 a big day in Athens.
Baseball stuns Florida on the road
Georgia baseball is off to an electric start this season as they sat at 21-2 (2-1) heading into their weekend series at No. 13 Florida. The No. 4 Bulldogs were looking to keep pace at the top of the SEC standings while also taking down one of their biggest rivals, and they did that on the road in dramatic fashion.
UGA entered the top of the ninth inning trailing the Gators 7-6, but a go-ahead home run by Ryland Zaborowski helped lead Georgia to their 8-7 win over Florida.
The two sides have two more games to play this weekend, but a series win at Florida would give Georgia a lot of confidence to contend in the SEC and eventually make a run at the College World Series.
Mike Bobo blamed for Carson Beck's transfer
There have been a lot of theories for why Carson Beck decided to transfer to Miami (FL), but Georgia fans unfortunately might not ever know exactly what led their former quarterback to leave Athens for Miami. But 247Sports' Brad Crawford has a new theory.
He believes that Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo played a role in Beck's decision to transfer. Whether it be because Bobo struggled running the offense this past year or because Beck just doesn't like the pro style offense run by Bobo, Crawford thinks Bobo staying at Georgia is one reason why Beck decided to leave.
Positive injury update for DL Jordan Hall
Former five-star defensive lineman Jordan Hall has had very bad luck when it's come to injuries. He was primed to have a big year in 2024 before fracturing both legs which caused him to miss most of the season.
Kirby Smart however recently provided an update on Hall's recovery, saying he's "looked much better and much more healthy," throughout spring ball.
Hall still doesn't sound like a full participant in spring ball yet, but he is very close to being at that point and should be 100 percent healthy by the time the regular season rolls around this fall.
