The Georgia baseball team is still reeling a bit after a surprising early exit in the Regional round of the NCAA Tournament, when the Bulldogs were hosting the regional. However, even though the early exit was unexpected, Georgia baseball has been pretty active already in the transfer portal, and their latest get is one that should help immediately next season.
Former ECU pitcher Brad Pruett has decided to transfer to the Bulldogs after spending a season up with the Pirates. Pruett began his college career at Oklahoma in 2024, and his two seasons in college baseball have not gone stellar, but hopefully, the Georgia pitching staff can help with that.
In his freshman season in Norman, Pruett posted a 7.71 ERA in 10 appearances, striking out nine batters and walking four. The Texas native was awarded a bigger role at ECU, where he appeared in 28 games, posting a 5.32 ERA, striking out 70 batters, and walking 34.

While the struggles have been there for Pruett, there is hope that joining Wes Johnson's pitching staff will help get him to where he was back in high school as a top-tier pitcher. There is hope that Pruett can be immediate relief for Georgia's pitching staff, which struggled in the 2025 season, and ultimately led the their early exit in the regional round.
Georgia baseball is making strides despite early Regional round exit
Even though Georgia lost in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament, there is still hope for the future for the Bulldogs. Johnson has elevated this Georgia baseball team immensely since joining them two seasons ago. Under Johnson, Georgia made it to the Super Regional round in his first season and hosted a Regional in his second season.
Now it comes down to putting it all together when it matters most. Johnson has already brought in eight players from the transfer portal, including Pruett, with hopefully more to come soon.
