Wednesday morning, Mike White and his restocked Georgia basketball team learned who their 2025 SEC opponents will be. Everyone will remember how much of a gauntlet the SEC was this last season, and it appears life won’t be any easier for Georgia this year.

Georgia will have three opponents this season where they will play them both at home and away. Those opponents are Texas, South Carolina and Florida. In SEC play last season, Georgia went a combined 4-1 against those teams and will hope to repeat that success in 2025.

Georgia will also play host to Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M in Athens this season.

Georgia will face some hostile road conditions in away matchups against the before-mentioned Florida, South Carolina and Texas, but they will also be traveling to Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt. All of which are as formidable basketball venues as you will find in all of college sports.

First time for everything

While the two team did meet twice in 2024, this will be Georgia's first time ever traveling to Norman, OK, to play the Sooners.

Unkind SEC

Despite all of the success Georgia witnessed in a 2024 season that concluded with a NCAA Tournament bid for the first time in 10 years, the SEC, in particular, was not very kind to the Bulldogs. The SEC was exceptionally deep, and sent a record-breaking 14 teams to the NCAA Tournament. Georgia went 8-10 in conference play a season ago, so White and his bunch will be looking to improve upon that mark in 2025.

Non-conference schedule announced

Georgia’s non-conference schedule was announced a week ago. The Bulldogs will open their 2025 season at home against Bellarmine (KY) on Monday, Nov. 3, at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia's other non-conference opponents will be home games against Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday, Nov. 5, followed by Morehead State on Sunday, Nov. 9; Georgia Tech on Friday, Nov. 14 and Florida A&M on Monday, Nov. 17.

Georgia will break away from home and travel to Charleston, S.C., to participate in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic on Friday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 23. Tournament opponents have not been announced, but the four-team bracket will include Clemson, West Virginia, and Xavier.

A week later, the Bulldogs will be traveling to Tallahassee, FL, to take on the Florida State Seminoles on Dec. 2 as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.

Georgia's remaining four non-conference games will be at home against Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Nov. 29, Western Carolina on Thursday, Dec. 18, West Georgia on Monday, Dec. 22 and Long Island on Monday, Dec. 29.

This schedule is definitely extremely difficult, but the expectation is for Georgia to get back to the Big Dance. So let’s see if White can shock the world again and lead the Bulldogs there.
