Georgia basketball is coming off just their second loss of the season after falling to Ole Miss on the road in their SEC opener 63-51. Mike White and the Bulldogs however have no time to dwell on this loss as their schedule only gets more difficult from here as their next four games are all against ranked opponents.
Georgia's next opponent is No. 6 Kentucky who will clearly present a massive challenge for the Bulldogs when they do battle on Tuesday Jan. 7. However, Georgia gets the Wildcats at home, so the hope is that will give them a better chance to pull off this upset.
After seeing that Georgia is unranked and Kentucky is ranked inside the top 10, one might assume that Kentucky is a massive favorite in this game. That however couldn't be further from the truth.
Georgia vs. Kentucky Final Odds
As of 8:30 pm EST on Monday Jan. 6, Georgia basketball is just a 3.5 point underdog to Kentucky according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under for this game is set at 156.5 points. ESPN's Matchup Predictor views this game in a similar manner as they give the Wildcats just a 53 percent chance to win this game.
Georgia vs. Kentucky Prediction
It's hard to get a good feel for this game because Kentucky is fresh off defeating a top 10 Florida team while Georgia struggled mightily on the road against Ole Miss. But Georgia has been a very good team this season, so hopefully their bad performance against the Rebels was just a fluke.
This opportunity for Georgia is huge as this win would announce to the country that they are a legit NCAA Tournament team. But Kentucky is still Kentucky even after Coach John Calipari left for Arkansas, so that means that Georgia is going to have a very difficult time pulling off this upset.
Prediction: Kentucky wins 81-73
