Georgia basketball is finally back. The Bulldogs open their 2024-25 season at home against Tennessee Tech on Monday at 7:30 pm EST.
Expectations are higher than most years after Mike White and Georgia had a solid campaign last season. Georgia also brought in a top 15 recruiting class along with multiple elite transfers to help bolster a UGA squad labeled the “dark horse” of the SEC.
Can Georgia get off to a fast start this season? As you would guess, the Bulldogs are big favorites against Tennessee Tech, but by how much?
Final Georgia vs. Tennessee Tech Odds
As of 5:30 am EST on Nov. 4, Georgia is favored by 25.5 points over Tennessee Tech on ESPN Bet. The over-under is also set at 140.5 points as well.
Georgia vs. Tennessee Tech Prediction
Georgia basketball has as much momentum entering a season as you could hope for. As mentioned, UGA has an elite recruiting and transfer class entering the program this year, but Georgia is also coming off an NIT Final Four trip as well.
Georgia has also already found a lot of success during their exhibition games as well. The Bulldogs beat Charlotte 86-59 before destroying UCF in their second exhibition game 114-76.
So the hype surrounding this Georgia basketball team has reached an all time high, and there appears to be good reason for it.
This is a game that Georgia is expected to win and should have no issues in doing so. Georgia’s goal this season is to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015, and in order to do that they also need to win this game convincingly to help themselves in the metrics.
It’s always unknown if they’ll be able to do that in their season opener, but this Georgia team feels different. This Georgia team feels like a team that will know how to handle their business against a weak opponent.
Prediction: Georgia wins 89-67
