Georgia football fans are likely ready to move on from the discussions surrounding their former quarterback Carson Beck. Earlier this offseason, Beck made the shocking decision to withdraw his name from the NFL Draft and enter the transfer portal instead, ultimately choosing to head south to Miami (FL).
This decision left a sour taste in a lot of Georgia fans mouths, but that wasn't really the case with many members of Georgia's team. For the most part, Georgia's players kept pretty quiet about this decision from Beck. Now that doesn't mean they don't have negative thoughts in their heads, but they weren't matching the energy from the fanbase about this decision publicly.
However, there are some Bulldogs who were not upset about this decision at all. One of those players is offensive lineman Tate Ratledge, who dished out a lot of praise for his "best friend" at the NFL Combine.
Tate Ratledge NFL Combine comments about Carson Beck
“Carson is a great kid, and honestly, Carson is one of my best friends since I’ve been at Georgia," Ratledge said via dawgnation.com. "Me and him have a different relationship."
“I think Carson has the opportunity to be the top quarterback coming out next year. He’s shown it before, he just had a little bit of an off year this past year, and that’s nothing against him."
“Him going down there (to Miami, Fla.) is a great place for him to rebound to what happened this past year and have a great year.”
Ratledge is just supporting his friend
While these comments from Ratledge are quite interesting, it by no means should be viewed in a negative light. At the end of the day, Ratledge and Beck played with each other for a long time at Georgia, and they found a lot of success during their time together as well. So of course he's going to not have any bad feelings towards his friend.
It honestly would be quet weird for Ratledge to have negative feelings anyways considering his time at Georgia is done, but that is besides the point. Ratledge and Beck are clearly very close, so all he wants to see is his friend have a great year at Miami next season.
Whether Georgia fans wants to see Beck struggle or not is a different story, but likely everyone doesn't want to see Beck and Miami have a better season than Georgia. So as long as that doesn't happen, Georgia fans likely won't care how Beck does with the Hurricanes.
