Georgia Bulldogs were lucky to survive a late scare at the Missouri Tigers

A win is a win, but the Georgia Bulldogs should be thanking their lucky stars they won in Columbia.

Fresh off their best win of the season over a ranked Arkansas team last weekend, the No. 21 Georgia Bulldogs survived on the road in Columbia to beat the Missouri Tigers on the final possession. Georgia improved to 16-3 overall and 4-2 in SEC play in this thrilling, but sloppy 74-72 road victory at Mizzou. It came down to the wire where Jacob Crews could not drain his buzzer-beater from distance.

Here is how close UGA came to suffering what would have been their second Quad 1 loss of the year.

Instead, Georgia has picked up another win in conference play, and another one on the road vs. a top 75 opponent. This is a Quad 1 win, but one that might feel like a Quad 2 win later on. Missouri was among the first handful of teams who just missed the tournament field in Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology post for ESPN. Georgia will now have to take on his last team in in Texas on Saturday...

Let's unpack the good, the bad, the ugly, and the amazing from Georgia's latest win on the road next.

Mike White's Georgia Bulldogs have luck on their side in CoMo vs. Mizzou

As far as what was good for Georgia, the Dawgs made 86 percent of their free throws, out-rebounded Missouri 44-39, and did not get into any real foul trouble with only 11 whistles going against them. The bad was Georgia only shot 28 percent from distance, allowing Missouri to outshoot them from the field at a 40 to 37-percent clip. The ugly was Missouri made all but one of their 12 free throws...

In a way, when Georgia made mistakes, Missouri usually capitalized. Nobody shot particularly well in this game for Georgia. Blue Cain continues to be a scoring liability at this frenetic pace. He had eight points on 4-of-16 shooting, inlcuding 0-5 from three. He did not get to the charity stripe once in 33 minutes of play. At least he did not turn the ball over. Cain did redeem himself with 10 big rebounds.

Leading the way in scoring for Georgia was Marcus Millender off the bench with 18 points in 26 minutes. He was 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from distance. He is instant offense whenever he steps on the court. Clearly, Georgia decided to win Mike White's way with pace and a deep 11-man rotation. It does wear the opposition out, but it does not always make for the must fun of watches...

In the end, Georgia getting a road victory over Missouri should afford the Bulldogs to stay ranked inside the top 25 for another week. If they were to beat a favored Texas team in Austin, they will surely climb up the rankings. Right now, UGA has 16 wins on the season to only three losses. As long as they play anything close to .500 basketball in league play, the Dawgs will be making the NCAA Tournament.

For now, Georgia may not be the best team in men's basketball, but this is such a hard team to defeat.
