Georgia football had yet another big day on Thursday. Five game times were announced for the upcoming season while one Georgia defender was named to a preseason watch list.

But it only makes sense to first discuss the new five-star prediction logged in Georgia’s favor on Thursday.

Georgia predicted to land 5-star safety Jireh Edwards

Georgia already has one five-star commit in their 2026 recruiting class in quarterback Jared Curtis. One five-star however is not good enough at Georgia as the Bulldogs hope to have three or four per year.

Georgia is after a lot of five-star recruits, but it goes without saying that they won’t land each recruit the are targeting. But the Bulldogs are now the team trending for five-safety Jireh Edwards as UGA received a crystal ball prediction in their favor on Thursday from 247Sports.

Edwards still has four official visits to other schools before his July 5 commitment date, but the Bulldogs are the team to beat with about a month to go in Edwards’ recruitment.

5 game times announced for Georgia’s 2025 season

Georgia football also found out on Thursday when five of their games during the 2025 season will begin. The Bulldogs found out that their first three games of the season against Marshall, Austin Peay and Tennessee will all begin at 3:30 pm EST. On top of that, Georgia’s rivalry games against Florida and Georgia Tech will also begin at 3:30 pm EST as well.

Georgia is yet to find out what time their seven other games will start, but these five being afternoon games means there’s a great chance Georgia’s showdowns in Athens against Alabama and Texas could be night games.

Daylen Everette named to preseason watch list

42 college football players were named to the Lott Trophy watch list this week, which is an award that goes to the nation’s top defensive player both on and off the field. And Georgia corner Daylen Everette was included on that list.

Everette has a lot of hype surrounding him entering the 2025 season as he will be called upon to be a leader for this year’s defense. Everette also is coming off an impressive 2024 season, so the hope is that he’ll be one of Georgia’s top players on their entire team.

So Everette being named to this watch list speaks to how big of a year he could have in Athens.
