Georgia may be in the middle of their bye week, but that isn’t stopping them from dominating the college football news cycle. From QB rankings, shocking spreads and a new suspension from the SEC, Wednesday’s news had it all.
Gunner Stockton ranked much higher than Carson Beck
Gunner Stockton and Carson Beck have been compared ever since Beck transferred to Miami. So far this season Beck had been outperforming a Stockton, but that isn’t the case anymore.
After Stockton’s five touchdown performance against Ole Miss and Beck’s four interception embarrassment against Louisville, CBS Sports analyst David Cobb ranked Stockton above Beck in his QB rankings. Stockton checked in at No. 10 while Beck fell all the way to No. 38.
There is still a lot of season to play, but for now it is clear that Stockton is the better player.
Georgia vs Auburn official suspended
Georgia’s win over Auburn may be the most controversial victory of the college football season. Auburn fans are still claiming they were cheated out of a win, and Georgia fans are laughing in their faces after their ninth win in a row.
But the SEC has decided they are siding with Auburn as they have permanently suspended an official from this game.
The end result of this game won’t change, but it’s clear the SEC believes Auburn was not treated fairly during this matchup.
Georgia vs Florida opening spread
Georgia’s matchup with Florida is still over a week away, but Vegas has just released the opening spread for this game. Georgia unsurprisingly is the favorite, but FanDuel Sportsbook only favored UGA by 7.5 points.
This seems a little low considering Florida is 3-4 and just fired Billy Napier, but it’s clear that Vegas thinks they know something the average fan doesn’t know.
