Fall camp is right around the corner, and for Georgia fans that is when it finally feels like football is back. This is when fans start to learn what the team is going to look like this year and who will lead them to victory, but on Friday David Pollack gave some inside intel about what he thinks will happen this year.
And he shared that a shocking true freshman is making a push to be a starter week one.
But before diving into that, it's time to introduce an in-state defensive back who plans to commit on Saturday, July 18 and is expected to commit to Georgia.
Georgia could be on the verge of landing 4-star DB Adryan Cole
Right now Georgia has zero defensive backs committed to their 2027 recruiting class. Once upon a time they had two top 100 defensive backs in their class, but they both have flipped to other schools.
Georgia however could be on the verge of landing a big commitment from a defensive back on Saturday as four-star Adryan Cole is expected to announce his commitment. Both 247Sports and On3 predict Georgia will win, so fans should expect good news at 4:30 pm EST when he shares his final decision.
Cole is the No. 166 overall player in the country and the No. 15 player from the Peach State, so not only would Georgia be getting a talented defensive back, they would also be adding an elite in-state recruit too.
Ta'Shawn Poole commits to Florida State over Georgia
Speaking of elite in-state defensive backs, Ta'Shawn Poole announced his commitment on Friday. Just like Cole he is a really strong defensive back from the state of Georgia, but he ultimately chose Florida State over UGA.

The highest-ranked uncommitted prospect in Georgia is no longer uncommitted.
Howard (Ga.) safety Ta’Shawn Poole commits to Florida State over Georgia, Tennessee, he tells @247Sports.

Poole is the No. 64 overall player in the country and the No. 5 player from the state of Georgia. On paper he is a little better than Cole, so it would've been nice to earn his commitment. But Georgia shouldn't get too greedy and should be thankful that they are expected to add one really solid defensive back this weekend.
Rankings also don't really matter once a player gets to school. Kirby Smart has proven time and time again that he is one of the best developers of talent, so there's a good chance Cole will end up being better than Poole in the long run.
True freshman Zykie Helton predicted to start for Georgia week 1
One of the hardest things to do in college football is start as a true freshman. That is especially the case for an offensive lineman in the SEC as it can sometimes take a couple years before they are ready to compete at that level.
David Pollack however believes Zykie Helton will be a starter for Georgia this season. He is a true freshman offensive lineman who was a three-star recruit out of high school, so him starting the first game of his career would be no small feat.
Some Georgia fans love to complain about all of the three-star commits they have in their 2027 recruiting class. As it stands right now Georgia has 10 three-stars out of their 18 commits, and that can be a scary thing. But no one should be concerned about that becuase of the example Helton is setting because if he can start as a true freshman after being a three-star then so can any of these other players.
