Georgia needs to make some serious moves if they are going to save their 2027 recruiting class. Right now they are ranked No. 16 in the country, and a big reason for that is because they have zero defensive back commits.
Once upon a time they had two top 100 defensive backs in their class, but they both flipped to other programs. Georgia then lost countless commitments of defensive back recruits to other schools, but on Friday they were just predicted to win the recruitment for four-star safety Adryan Cole.
Georgia fans thankfully won't have to wait too long to learn his final decision because he plans to announce his commitment on Saturday, June 18.
4-star safety Adryan Cole predicted to commit to Georgia
Cole is one of the top safeties in the country. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings Cole is the No. 166 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 12 safety in the 2027 recruiting class as well as the No. 15 player from the state of Georgia.
Cole will announce his final decision on Saturday, June 18 at 4:30 pm EST. Georgia is one of four finalists in his recruitment alongside fellow SEC members Florida, LSU and Ole Miss.
As it stands today there is one prediction on 247Sports that is in favor of Georgia to win Cole's recruitment. The Bulldogs are also the heavy favorite according to On3 as they are given a 93 percent chance to come out on top as well.
These predictions do not guarantee that Georgia will come out on top, but it is seeming very likely that fans will have something to celebrate on Saturday.
What would a commitment from Adryan Cole mean for Georgia?
Cole would immediately become one of Georgia's biggest commitments of the 2027 recruiting class. He would be the sixth-highest ranked commit in the Bulldogs' class which may not seem significant, but he would become their one and only defensive back commit.
Being this late in the recruiting cycle without a defensive back commit is a serious problem. Typically Georgia looks to add five or six defensive backs each cycle, so having zero in mid-July is not a good thing to see.
Cole would help fix that problem along with Georgia's lack of elite talent from the Peach State. Georgia currently only has two top 20 players from the state of Georgia committed, so earning Cole's commitment would add to that total as well.
In just one day Georgia fans will learn if Cole chooses them or not. A loss would be horrific and a commitment would be massive. The stakes couldn't be higher, and that typically is when Smart is at his best.
