Sunday marked a big day for Georgia football on the recruiting trail. It isn't often that there are multiple major recruiting updates on the same day during the season, but that is what occurred on Sunday.
Unfortunately it wasn't all good news, but it is important to celebrate the wins when they come which came in the form of Georgia's first commitment in their 2028 recruiting class.
Georgia football lands first 2028 recruit
The biggest news of the day for Georgia came in the form of a new commitment as the Bulldogs landed 2028 tight end Asa Wall.
After a great deal of thought and prayer, I’m blessed to announce that I am Committed to the University of Georgia!!! #GODAWGS @KirbySmartUGA @coach_thartley @CoachMikeBobo @GeorgiaFootball @RustyMansell_ @JeremyO_Johnson @Hayesfawcett3 @JedMay_ @RecruitGeorgia @Coach_jtwall pic.twitter.com/gir08AS7hd

Wall visited Georgia this weekend and apparently loved what he saw so much that he committed to Kirby Smart in his office Saturday morning. Wall is a legacy recruit as he is the son of former Georgia fullback JT Wall, so it appears he wants to follow in his father's footsteps and play for UGA.
Georgia loses key commit to Alabama
Unfortunately it wasn't all good recruiting news for Georgia on Sunday as they did lose a commit to Alabama. That recruit is three-star EDGE Corey Howard who visited Alabama this weekend and apparently really loved what he saw on his trip.

No one needs to be reminded how abysmal Georgia's record is to Alabama which includes a loss to the Crimson Tide in each of the last two seasons. Unfortunately those losses are beginning to stack up on the recruiting trail as well with Howard being the latest recruit to choose Alabama over Georgia.
Florida Gators make life easier for Georgia after firing Billy Napier
Florida made the biggest headlines on Sunday, but not for the reasons anyone would want. The Gators decided to fire head coach Billy Napier after beginning this season 3-4.
Florida is Georgia's next opponent after their bye week this week, so the hope is that this news will make it even more likely that Georgia will defeat the Gators. Georgia does need to be careful though because sometimes weird things can happen immediately after a head coach is fired.
