Georgia needed to make a big move to save their 2027 recruiting class. They had fallen outside the top 15 and were in desperate need to add a few commits to continue their streak of signing one of the top recruiting classes in the country.
It's going to take a few commitments to get to that point, but on Friday they made their first big move by adding an elite in-state offensive lineman.
Georgia did get some bad news when it comes to their current QB commit Colton Nussmeier and his high school eligibility, but the good recruiting news they received with their offensive line class will certainly make up for it.
Georgia earns commitment from 4-star Miller Westerfield
It had been over two weeks since Georgia earned a commitment. That caused the Bulldogs' 2027 recruiting class to fall outside the top 15 in the country, but that quickly changed with the commitment of Miller Westerfield on Friday.
Westerfield is a four-star offensive tackle who chose Georgia over LSU and Tennessee.
This moved Georgia up to No. 13 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. This still isn't where anyone wants to be, but it is a step in the right direction that puts Georgia in position to eventually move inside the top 10 if not a bit higher.
Georgia QB commit Colton Nussmeier forced to sit out senior season
One of the stars of Georgia's 2027 recruiting class is Nussmeier who is Georgia's four-star quarterback commit. The QB of any recruiting class will always be a big deal, but when it's someone as talented as Nussmeier that gets taken to another level.
Now that he is committed to Georgia fans will be excited to see him take the field this fall in his senior season. That unfortunately will not be happening as he was ruled ineligible by the Texas high school sports association.
This decision originally came in June which Nussmeier appealed. Unfortunately this decision was officially upheld this week.
Nussmeier was ruled ineligible because it was determined he transferred schools this offseason strictly for sports purposes. That is against the rules in Texas high school sports, so they are making him pay the price.
Many Georgia fans have floated around the idea of Nussmeier transferring to a school in a different state, but that is a big ask for his family. Maybe they will end up doing that, but as of now Georgia's quarterback commit won't be playing high school football this fall.
Georgia commit Kelsey Adams is sticking with the Bulldogs
One of Georgia's top commits in their recruiting class is offensive lineman Kelsey Adams. He has been committed to Georgia for a very long time, but the past few months there have been rumors of him showing interest in a few other schools.
That however no longer appears to be the case.
This is big news for Georgia's class because Adams is the fifth-highest ranked player. So for a recruiting class that has been struggling this year, it is a relief to get some good news from one of their best commits.
