Big news hit Georgia football on Monday as the Bulldogs learned of a new opponent on their 2026 schedule. On top of that, the Bulldogs also learned that one of their top quarterback targets int he 2027 class is nearing his final decision.
But let's begin with Georgia's newest opponent as well as an interesting story from one of the most legendary Bulldogs of all time.
Georgia adds new opponent to 2026 schedule
There is still a lot unknown about Georgia's 2026 schedule, but the non-conference portion of that schedule has officially come together as the Bulldogs now know who they're fourth opponent will be. UGA's final non-conference opponent will be FCS program Tennessee State, who the Bulldogs have not yet played in program history.
Tennessee State joins Western Kentucky, Louisville and Georgia Tech as the Bulldogs four non-conference opponents in 2026. A date for Georgia's game against Tennessee State isn't known yet, but looking at the current 2026 schedule it will either be week one or the second to last game of the regular season.
Brock Bowers was almost never a Bulldog
Former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers was featured on a podcast recently, and on this show Bowers shared that he almost committed to Washington over Georgia.
Who knows what would have happened had Bowers committed to the Huskies instead. Would he have become as great as he is today? Would Georgia have still won multiple National Championships? Thankfully none of that truly matters, but it's interesting to think about how different things could have been if Bowers never committed to Georgia.
4-star QB Teddy Jarrard will announce his commitment this week
Potentially Georgia's top quarterback target in the 2027 class is four-star in-state prospect Teddy Jarrard. One would assume Jarrard still has a long way to go in his recruitment, but that turned out to not be the case as Jarrard will announce his commitment on July 24.
Jarrard will be deciding between Georgia, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State on Thursday, but all signs point towards the Irish winning this recruitment. So unless something crazy happens, Georgia is going to have to look elsewhere for their signal caller in the 2027 recruiting class.
