The LA Rams have their second preseason game of the season quickly approaching this weekend, but head coach Sean McVay still doesn't know what to do with Stetson Bennett. In other Georgia news, Kirby Smart provided a key injury update to starting center Drew Bobo while the Bulldogs earned double digit selections to the Preseason Coaches All-SEC teams.
Georgia fans may be more focused on what's taking place in Athens right now with the season beginning in about two weeks, but Bennett's competition with rookie quarterback Ty Simpson in LA is just as intriguing. That's why McVay's uncertainty with what to do with him next is so interesting to follow.
Rams head coach Sean McVay isn't sure what's next for Stetson Bennett
Earlier this week Rams head coach Sean McVay said he wasn't sure what's next for Stetson Bennett this preseason. The Rams have another preseason game coming up on Saturday, Aug. 22, but as of now he doesn't know if Bennett will play at all.
Bennett got the start at quarterback during the Rams first preseason game last weekend. He however only played in their first two series before rookie Ty Simpson came in for the rest of the game and lit the world on fire. Some fans think this was a sign that Simpson was above Bennett on the Rams' depth chart, but that isn't necessarily true.
Most NFL organizations prefer to rest their starters and established players during the preseason. That is what McVay could be weighing with Bennett because he doesn't want his backup (Bennett) to risk injury.
McVay however is still undecided about what he's going to do with Bennett. He said this week of practices will help him decide if he should play in their next preseason game or not, but if he doesn't play that could just be further confirmation that he is the Rams' backup right now, not Simpson.
Kirby Smart provides first injury update on Georgia starting center Drew Bobo
Last weekend was Georgia's first fall scrimmage, and rumors were circulating that starting center Drew Bobo injured his finger. Kirby Smart spoke with the media on Wednesday and he confirmed that Bobo is healthy and was a full participant at practice on Tuesday.
Smart didn't go into details about what injury occurred. It does sound like Bobo was injured during their scrimmage though, but if he was still a full participant at practice then there is nothing to worry about right now.
Bobo is a key piece of Georgia's offense this season. He was just named to the AP Preseason All-American second team, so that shows just how great of a player is expected to be this season. Georgia will be much better with him on the field, so it is a great sign that they survived this injury scare.
Georgia Bulldogs land 11 Preseason Coaches All-SEC selections
The SEC coaches just released their Preseason All-SEC selections, and 11 Bulldogs were named to the three teams. Offensive linemen Earnest Greene and Drew Bobo were named to the first team along with safety KJ Bolden and corner Ellis Robinson. Gunner Stockton was named to third team and Nate Frazier was named to the second team.

2nd: RB Nate Frazier, TE Lawson Luckie, OG Dontrell Glover, DL Elijah Griffin, LB Raylen Wilson.
3rd: QB Gunner Stockton, DE Gabe Harris
Georgia also had four selections to the Associate Press Preseason All-American teams, so it looks like the media has high expectations for Georgia this season. That is nothing new at Georgia, but the Bulldogs will try to match their preseason expectations with a deep playoff run for the first time in four years this season.
