Georgia football is in the middle of their final official visit weekend of June, but while that was taking place a lot of big news hit the program. Unfortunately a lot of that news wasn't great as former Alabama head coach Nick Saban is hurting UGA's chances with a five-star running back. On top of that, a highly ranked defensive lineman chose an SEC rival over Georgia on Saturday as well.

But let's begin with some good news first as the Bulldogs were named the leader for a top recruit in the 2027 class.

Georgia named leader for top 100 safety

Rivals insider Jed May shared on Saturday that Georgia is the "early favorite" in the recruitment for four-star safety Adryan Cole. According to Rivals, Cole is the No. 74 overall player in the country and the No. 11 player from the state of Georgia, so this update from May was very exciting for Georgia fans to see.

Cole is a member of the 2027 recruiting class, so there is still a year and a half left in his recruitment. But for now this is a name that Georgia fans should remember because there is a good chance he becomes a Bulldog at some point in the future.

Nick Saban is still hurting Georgia's recruiting

Saban was a dominant force during his time at Alabama and made life very difficult for Georgia. But now that Saban is retired, most Georgia fans thought they wouldn't have to worry about him getting in their way anymore.

That however is not the case as Saban was pictured with five-star running back Ezaviewr Crowell during his official visit to Alabama this weekend.

The Tide were already the favorite to win this recruitment before this interaction, but Saban getting involved likely ends any chance Georgia had at winning this recruitment. An official commitment will come from Crowell on June 26, but Georgia fans should not expect any good news from Crowell on this day.

Texas steals top DL recruit from Georgia

Georgia may have a top five recruiting class right now, but there is still a lot of work to be done. This is especially the case on the defensive line where the Bulldogs are still looking for that elite recruit they sign nearly every class at the position.

Unfortunately four-star Vodney Cleveland committed to Texas over Georgia on Saturday, meaning the Bulldogs will have to find a new defensive lineman to target to help finish off their 2026 class at this position.
