Georgia moved to 6-1 in SEC play after their dominant victory over Mississippi State on Saturday. Normally that means it’s time for UGA fans to start looking at tickets for the SEC Championship game because one more win typically is good enough to make it to Atlanta.
But that isn’t the case this year as Alabama and Texas A&M are both still undefeated in conference play. Georgia has no one to blame but themselves when it comes to the Crimson Tide since they lost to them at home, but that was not the case with the Aggies. Georgia unfortunately doesn’t get to play Texas A&M this season, so they need some help from other teams in order to pass them in the conference standings.
So far they haven’t gotten that help, and Georgia should blame the SEC for that because of the absurdly easy schedule they gave the Aggies this season.

Georgia should be upset with the SEC for the schedule they gave Texas A&M
Any schedule is difficult in the SEC, right? That’s at least what fans of the conference tend to say, but that isn’t the case with Texas A&M this year.
The six SEC teams the Aggies have played so far this year are a combined 8-27 in conference play. That horrendous record is only going to get worse after this weekend after they play 1-6 South Carolina at home. On top of that, the Aggies have been fortunate enough to play the four programs in the conference who have already fired their head coach.
Obviously some of these things are difficult to predict. No one saw LSU or even South Carolina being this bad, and how can the conference predict which teams are going to fire their head coach? But digging a little deeper it’s clear that they were given a favorable schedule compared to Georgia.
Not only do they not have to play UGA, but they also got to avoid Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee this year. The only good team they have to play in the SEC this season is Texas, and even they haven’t really lived up to their expectations either.
If Georgia is going to make the SEC Championship game they have to first handle their business against Texas this weekend. But after that game UGA will have to become big fans of the Longhorns because they are their last hope at taking down A&M which could then potentially send Georgia to Atlanta to have a chance to repeat as SEC Champions.
