Well, it is officially here, the Associated Press has finally released their Preseason Top 25 rankings, and the Georgia Bulldogs come in at No. 5. Of course, fans are going to want a higher ranking, but what they should be more upset about is the team right in front of them, which is the Clemson Tigers.
So, the AP seems to think that Clemson, the team that Georgia beat 34-3 last season, is actually now ranked above them? Seems like a joke to us, but unfortunately, it is true as the Tigers come in ranked No. 4, just above the Bulldogs.
This is a Clemson team that just barely got into the College Football Playoff after getting lucky by winning the ACC Championship, which again, they were lucky to be in. The Tigers choked in their final preseason game by losing to South Carolina and only got in because Miami got beaten by Syracuse, gifting Clemson a spot in the championship.
Clemson drew the matchup of facing the Texas Longhorns in the first round of the College Football Playoff and lost 38-24 in what was more of a lopsided game than the final score would show. Now, somehow, that team is ranked above Georgia, again an absolute joke.

While many are doubting Georgia heading into the 2025 season, a No. 5 ranking may seem like a good sign, but not when Clemson is ahead of them. The top three teams make sense with Texas, who the chole college football world is fawning over, coming in at No. 1, Penn State, now a team that actually looks like a contender in the Big Ten, coming in at No. 2, and the reigning National Champions, Ohio State, coming in at No. 3.
Clemson won probably the worst Power Conference title last season, with how weak the ACC was, and now they are ranked above the Georgia Bulldogs, who won the SEC last year, the strongest conference among the Power Conferences, so where is the sudden jump?
Some could think that Georgia's uncertainty at the quarterback position could be a reason for the fall, while others think the defense not looking quite as dominant in years past could be another, but at this point, let it all be bulletin board material. Georgia now has their ranking and knows exactly how much work it needs to do to get back to the top.
