Where would Georgia be this season without Zachariah Branch? Georgia's star wide receiver is in his first season with the Bulldogs after playing two years at USC, and it's safe to say that UGA would not be having the season they are having without him.
However, Georgia fans may already have to prepare to say goodbye to Branch because ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has projected him to be selected in early in 2026 NFL Draft. And if that is how NFL organizations actually feel about him then it is very likely that Branch will depart for the NFL after this season.
Zachariah Branch could be on his way out of Georgia
Kiper Jr. currently has Branch as the No. 6 receiver in the upcoming NFL Draft class. In the last few years the sixth wide receiver has been taken in the first or second round, so Kiper Jr. believes that Branch will be selected early in the draft this year. In fact, he even said he believes Branch could be a first round pick, but at minimum he doesn’t see him slipping beyond the second round.
Branch has been Gunner Stockton’s top target this season. So far this year Branch has recorded 73 receptions, 744 yards and five touchdowns. Those 73 receptions is what is most impressive because all he needs is four more catches to set the single season record in Georgia football history.
So while it is very sad to know that this is likely Branch’s final season at Georgia, UGA has been very lucky have had a chance to experience it. Sure there is always a chance he does return next year, but if what Kiper Jr. is saying is accurate then it would be silly for him to not go to the NFL.
So at the very least Branch should rewrite the history books, and who knows, maybe he’ll help lead Georgia to a National Championship as well.
