Even though there is only one week left of the regular season, Georgia still has no clue how their season is going to end. The Bulldogs are comfortably in the College Football Playoff picture, but when it comes to the SEC Championship game there is still a lot unknown.

Georgia finished their SEC slate at 7-1, but that unfortunately isn’t good enough to secure their place in the championship game just yet. There are however a few scenarios that would see Georgia make it to Atlanta, but there’s one in particular that is extra intriguing as it could see UGA face an interim head coach.

Georgia could face interim head coach in SEC Championship game

There are two scenarios that are very simple that would see Georgia make the SEC Championship game. If Texas A&M were to lose to Texas then Georgia would play Alabama, but if the Crimson Tide lose to Auburn then UGA would face the Aggies in Atlanta. But what happens if Alabama and Texas A&M both lose?

If that were to happen then Georgia would make it to Atlanta and would play Ole Miss. And if anyone has been following SEC football the last month they know what that could mean.

Lane Kiffin has been at the center of the coaching carrousel this season, so much so that his name has been linked with both Florida, LSU and Penn State’s head coach opening. But recent reports indicate that he is going to make the move LSU, and that announcement might come the day after their regular season finale against Mississippi State.

This means Ole Miss would head to the SEC Championship game with an interim coach instead of Kiffin.

Some might argue that this would benefit Georgia while others will claim this will give the Rebels a lot of extra motivation. Regardless this would make for one of the more interesting SEC Championship games of all time, and Georgia would be right in the center of it.
