Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis broke the hearts of Georgia fans when he decided to flip to Vanderbilt earlier this month. However, there is still one way that Curtis could reunite with Georgia and be the quarterback of the future in Athens.
Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea is a name that Michigan has shown interest in for their head coach opening. Lea is yet to show public interest himself, but if he heads north to the Wolverines then Curtis might decide to head south and come back to Georgia.
Jared Curtis could reunite with Georgia
It may seem like a stretch for Lea to take the open job at Michigan. He just signed a contract extension with Vanderbilt at the end of the season and denied other head coach openings at LSU, Florida and Penn State. So why would the opening at Michigan be any different?
There’s a chance it won’t be, but Joel Klatt is someone who thinks Lea could end up at Michigan. The Wolverines have also missed on their top two options as Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham and Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer both have turned Michigan down.
Michigan could be getting more and more motivated to land a head coach soon, so they could make an offer that Lea can’t refuse.
Dawgs Central also hinted that a big update has unfolded to a quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class as well. The below post doesn’t specifically say it involves Curtis, but Georgia has not been linked with any other QB so this very well could be about Curtis.

The most likely outcome is Lea staying at Vanderbilt and keeping Curtis in their program. But there is a chance he leaves for Michigan and Curtis comes crawling back to Georgia.
The last question that would remain is if Kirby Smart would welcome him back, and it’s anyone’s best guess what Smart would do.
