Georgia football fans know how special of a player Ellis Robinson is, but people around the country might still be learning how great he is. His stock however is rising to an astronomical level as NFL Draft experts are beginning to take notice of what's brewing in Athens.
Robinson has been viewed as a potential first round draft pick at the 2027 NFL Draft all offseason. NFL scouts however are ready to raise his stock even higher as Georgia's season opener draws nearer as they think he could be the best corner at Georgia since Champ Bailey who was the No. 7 overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft. They also see comparisons to Colorado's Travis Hunter who just went second overall at the 2025 draft.

Ellis Robinson has turned heads throughout fall camp
Ellis Robinson hit a small bump in the road at the start of this offseason. Robinson sprained his ankle during spring ball this year, but he recovered quickly from that injury and has been one of the best players throughout the rest of Georgia's offseason.
Robinson specifically has shined during fall camp. He has made life difficult for Georgia's wide receivers and has hauled in countless interceptions thrughout practice as well. He has proven why he could be a first round draft pick at the 2027 NFL Draft next year, and that is why scouts are paying even closer attention to him.
Robinson has to translate his game onto the field this season first, but if he does there's a real chance he climbs even higher up the NFL Draft boards and into the top 10.
Ellis Robinson could lead a historic Georgia defense
Georgia has some questions to answer up front on their defensive line this year. They finished dead last in the SEC in sacks, and if Georgia is going to win a national championship this year they likely need to drastically improve at getting to the quarterback.
Georgia's secondary however has far less questions to answer. Robinson is one of the leaders of this group, but so too is KJ Bolden who is a projected first round pick as well. Safety Kyron Jones is back from injury as well and will be able to start on Saturday.
If Georgia is going to have a defense like we saw in 2021 and 2022 their defensive front has to be better than they were last year. An elite secondary will help though because if they can stay glued to opposing receivers that will give their big guys up front more time to get to the quarterback.
Georgia's first opportunity to flex their defense comes on Saturday against Tennessee State. This should be an easy win considering they are favored by over 40 points, but Georgia has to prove they can dominate a team like this to build confidence before playing much better teams in the SEC. If reports out of fall camp are accurate though then Georgia's defense should have no trouble against Tennessee State on Saturday and should be better off in the SEC than they were last year.
